Uze AG and IFJ create Uzwil startup space at the Bühler site
Uzwil/Schlieren - Uze AG is developing Uzwil grinding mill at the Bühler site in the Swiss canton of St.Gallen in collaboration with the IFJ Institute for Young Entrepreneurs. It will become the IFJ’s second startup space. Following on from the one in Schlieren in the Swiss canton of Zurich, this innovation center will also offer space for founders. It is scheduled to open in 2027.
(CONNECT) A second startup space run by the IFJ Institute for Young Entrepreneurs is being created on the site of Uzwil grinding plant, which is located on the premises of the Bühler Group. Uze AG, the Bühler Group’s real estate and family office, is developing this part of the site on the so-called “Spickel” between Bahnhofstrasse and Fabrikstrasse into an innovation hub in collaboration with the IFJ. The IFJ’s first hub like this has been running in Schlieren for ten years.
According to a statement from Uze AG, from 2027, the grinding mill in Uzwil is set to become a “vibrant place for startups, entrepreneurs, and creative minds”. It will have “modern office and engineering spaces, events and meetings, and plenty of room for innovation”. IFJ writes in another statement that construction will begin on 12 June 2025.
As part of the consolidation and renovation of its real estate, the Bühler Group relocated the space it was using to the adjacent main site, freeing up 18,680 square meters for new developments. “Here, Uze AG is starting a new chapter with its grinding mill, continuing the industrial tradition with entrepreneurial vision, innovative strength, and international networking,” writes the IFJ.
The grinding mill creates “space for growth, meetings, and movement – and above all for visibility and strong connections to companies, experts, organizations, and investors,” according to the IFJ. In addition to space for startups and SMEs, premises for industrial and commercial enterprises will also be created. ce/mm
