(CONNECTStadler Rail AG from the canton of Thurgau has been commissioned to build 13 KISS double-decker multiple-unit trains in St. Margrethen. They will be used by AB Transitio in Sweden and the plan is for delivery from spring 2028, as the global rail vehicle manufacturer from Bussnang reported in a press release. This order has been placed by exercising an option from the contract signed by Stadler and Transitio in 2016.

Under this contract, Stadler initially manufactured 33 trains for the Swedish rail vehicle leasing company with headquarters in Stockholm. The option for 12 further double-decker trains was then exercised in summer 2020. The newly ordered 13 additional trains will be used for regional transport in the Stockholm Mälaren region.

“The KISS double-decker train combines Nordic robustness with state-of-the-art comfort,” said Ansgar Brockmeyer, Head of Marketing & Sales and Deputy Group CEO of Stadler, in the press release. “This is ideal for reliable, efficient and comfortable regional transport in the Stockholm Mälaren region.” For Magnus von Bahr, CEO of Transitio, this new order represents a continuation of the strong partnership they have with Stadler. “With these additional 13 vehicles we will strengthen the robustness of the Mälardalstrafik fleet and further increase synergies and standardization in Transitios rolling stock fleet.” ce/hs
