Model AG cuts resource use in Weinfelden

Weinfelden TG – The packaging company Model has implemented a test recycling facility at its headquarters in Weinfelden to optimize fibre recovery.

Model AG invested 38 million Swiss francs into the pilot facility. According to the company in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, the facility will be able to recycle the materials in wet strength paper, such as labels, coated papers like beverage cartons, and kraft paper cups.

Until now, only certain types of waste paper could be recycled. With the new Fibre Evolution Recycling facility, the range of applications will now be extended to include materials that were previously used in thermal processes.

The packaging company intends to use the pilot facility to create greater flexibility in the production process and reduce its dependence on the recovered paper market. This will also benefit Model AG customers by offering them new possibilities.

The project was supported by the shareholder family and planned in-house. Some of the machines used were uncommon in the paper industry until now.
