Metrohm launches new software for voltammetric measurement devices

Herisau - Metrohm, from Herisau in the Swiss canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, has launched viva 4.0, its latest software solution for voltammetric analysis. The improved control and database software can be used in voltammetric trace analysis and in cyclic voltammetric stripping, which determines organic additives in electroplating baths.

(CONNECTMetrohm, a process analytics specialist based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, has launched viva 4.0, a new software solution for voltammetric analysis. Metrohm's viva control and evaluation software offers complete automation for trace analysis using voltammetry (VA) and cyclic voltammetric stripping (CVS) for voltammetric measurement devices and associated dosing units and sample changers. The latest version, viva 4.0, sets new standards in terms of speed, accuracy, and user-friendly features, according to a statement.

In the analysis of electroplating baths using CVS, the new software offers a faster and more accurate method for determining organic additives such as brighteners. Additionally, viva 4.0 enables the electrolyte value required for the response curve (RC) to be determined and stored separately, reducing the time required per analysis as well as reagent consumption.

When it comes to the voltammetric trace analysis (VA) of metal ions, viva 4.0 enables the subtraction of the background signal (blank curve), helping reduce irregular background signals that could mask smaller analyte peaks – a factor that can lead to lower detection limits.

Viva 4.0 is data-compatible with its predecessor, viva 3.0, so the latter can still be used without upgrading to the latest version. Like its predecessors, the new software is compatible with the Microsoft operating system Windows 10/11 and other versions of the server operating system, according to the statement. ce/eb
