Lidl opens new headquarters in Weinfelden

Weinfelden TG – Lidl Switzerland has opened its new headquarters in Weinfelden. Built in just two years in the immediate vicinity of its former headquarters, the new location underscores the retailer’s commitment to the St.GallenBodenseeArea.

The former headquarters had become too small for Lidl Switzerland, which is why the retailer decided to build a new corporate head office. In addition to the additional space, Lidl also sought to ensure an “attractive working environment” and “pleasant working atmosphere”, according to a press release.

According to Georg Kröll, CEO of Lidl Switzerland, it was clear to the company early on that it wanted to remain in the region: “With this investment, we are committing ourselves to Weinfelden: we enjoy working here, are well integrated and would like to strengthen our local cooperation even further.”

Lidl invested 65 million Swiss francs in the new building and relied on regional companies to help the project become a reality.

The new headquarters provides space for 300 employees; currently, some 250 people work at the headquarters. With its large, bright rooms and numerous glass surfaces, the new building focuses on the well-being of the employees, who were given the opportunity to contribute to the planning process and now have access to a fitness centre and staff restaurant, which is also open to the public. Sustainability standards were incorporated into the building’s design.
