Ifolor launches mass market 3D selfies

Kreuzlingen TG – Photo company ifolor’s new service TWINSIE allows customers to create 3D miniatures of themselves. The company has even opened a pop-up store for this.

Headquartered in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, ifolor uses state-of-the-art 3D scanning and printing technology for TWINSIE. Its aim is to make 3D printing available to the mass market.

“The new technology makes photography even more tangible to touch,” said Filip P. Schwarz, managing director of the online photo services provider. “Shooting in the photo booth with 68 cameras is an experience in and of itself.”

Customers are photographed by nearly 70 cameras simultaneously in the photo booth and are then vectorized in a 3D manner on the basis of this data. After the desired pose has been selected, the 3D figurine is printed on a scale of 1:10 in Kreuzlingen and shipped to the buyer.

Ifolor has even opened a new store for its 3D service, the TWINSIE Pop-Up-Gallery in Zurich, where everything literally revolves around 3D selfies: the photo booth is located in the middle of the store. The pop-up store opened on Monday, February 5 and will stay open for the next eight weeks.

According to Schwarz, his company seeks to “capture and transport emotions – this doesn’t change in the digital world”. 3D selfies are just the “next logical step”.
