Brauerei Locher launches new craft beer range

Appenzell - Brauerei Locher is bringing a special edition craft beer to market. Locher Craft includes seven artisanal beers brewed in small quantities. They will be available to gastronomy and beverage retail.

Brauerei Locher AG with headquarters in the St.GallenBodenseeArea is producing a new craft beer range at its Brauquöll visitor center. According to the press release, the special edition is called Locher Craft and includes seven artisanal beers produced in small quantities. They will also be supplemented by limited editions at times. They are available in beverage retail as well as gastronomy establishments.

According to the information provided, the demand for craft beers (traditionally produced, artisanal beers) is increasing. They have seen retail growth of 15 percent versus the entire product range. Most have been imported to date. However, local breweries are showing their willingness to innovate.

In this spirit, the family company Locher is bringing to market an alcohol-free dark beer, a dinkelbier, and a sour beer with cherries within their craft beer range. Max Bürki, master brewer and creative head of the new craft range at Locher, commented in the press release: “With our seven new craft beers, we hope to enrich the domestic range with exciting flavors.”

The brewers are able to implement their own ideas at Locher’s new Brauquöll visitor center in Appenzell in the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. In this way, they can celebrate their craft and react to trends. Aurèle Meyer, CEO of the family company, states: “At the same time, we are experimenting with seasonal ingredients and tastes.”

The line is inspired by the Säntisträgern, who battled the most adverse conditions to carry basic goods such as drinks and firewood to Europe’s highest weather station on the mountain of Säntis during the 19th century.

This is why the labels on the new Locher beers will show “real characters” from the region as “a homage to superhuman efforts, courage, and forces of nature.” ce/ko
