Zühlke joining forces with LowCodeLab@OST

Schlieren/St.Gallen - Zühlke and the LowCodeLab@OST at OST - Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences have entered into a strategic partnership. Through this, the Schlieren-based firm and the university intend to research the potential of empowering non-IT professionals to carry out programming tasks with the help of Low Code.

The global innovation service provider Zühlke, which is based in Schlieren in the canton of Zurich, and OST - Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences are joining forces in the area of Low Code. In this context, the partners are keen to advance the topic of programming with ready-made software modules by people without any specific prior knowledge of a programming language in the areas of teaching, research and business, further details of which can be found in a press release.

Accordingly, Zühlke and the LowCodeLab@OST are convinced that “Low Code helps companies to better master the challenges of digitization”. Low Code enables non-IT experts, for example regular employees in a company, to create digital applications such as apps using Low Code platforms without having their own knowledge of programming languages. This means that applications can be independently launched quickly and cost-effectively without the need to bring software developers into the process.

The press release states that Zühlke has already amassed several years of experience in this area. For example, the innovation service provider has implemented a customer portal with the help of a Low Code platform for the real estate company Alfred Müller, which is based in the Zug area.

With this partnership, Zühlke is aiming to use the research and teaching of the LowCodeLab@OST to understand and further develop Low Code as a new development paradigm in software. “At the same time, we are looking forward to seeing some exciting results from the LowCodeLab studies and how we can adapt them for our work”, comments Silvan Stich, Head of Low Code at Zühlke, in the press release. In its role as a competence center, the LowCodeLab@OST is keen to support institutions from various sectors with its teaching and provide knowledge, because there are still “many important questions” about Low Code.
