StarragTornos expands its Aerospace business
Rorschacherberg – The StarragTornos Group from the canton of St.Gallen expanded its Aerospace business in 2025. As a result, StarragTornos successfully maintained its order intake for 2025 at the previous year’s level and increased its year-end order backlog compared to 2024. Meanwhile, EBIT and net profit declined significantly.
(CONNECT) The StarragTornos Group has reported a further strengthening in its structural resilience and expansion of its position in the Aerospace business in 2025 despite a “challenging economic environment”. As a result, order intake was successfully maintained at the previous year’s level and the order backlog increased compared to 2024.
In the Aerospace market segment, order intake rose by 40.1 percent to 126.5 million Swiss francs, supported by numerous new orders, particularly from the defense industry. In contrast, the Luxury Goods segment recorded a sharp decline in demand of 45.0 percent to 28.4 million francs, which had a significant negative impact on revenue and earnings.
The total order intake in 2025 amounted to 472.8 million francs, slightly down year on year (-0.7 percent). The order backlog rose to 336.4 million francs at year-end (+3.2 percent). Net sales declined by 10.5 percent to 442.1 million francs. EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) fell from 15.4 million francs to 6.0 million francs, while the EBIT margin decreased from 3.1 percent to 1.4 percent. Net profit halved to 5.3 million francs, mainly due to a reduction in net sales.
Europe remained the most important sales region but recorded a significant decline, most notably in Switzerland. This was largely attributable to the weakening Luxury Goods segment, where Swiss watchmakers in particular remained very cautious about making investments. By contrast, the company states that North and South America significantly increased their share and further consolidated their position as an important sales market.
StarragTornos does not expect any significant forward momentum in the relevant market segments in 2026 but anticipates that demand from aerospace and defense will remain strong. The Group is one of the world’s leading suppliers in the machine tool industry. It develops, manufactures and distributes precision machine tools for the machining of workpieces made of metal, composite materials and ceramics. StarragTornos is represented in numerous international markets, including the USA, where Starrag maintains a headquarters in Hebron, Kentucky, and Tornos maintains headquarters in Des Plaines, Illinois, and Brookfield, Connecticut. ce/ja
