Baumer software is a top innovation

Frauenfeld - The Baumer Sensor Suite software has been ranked among the ten best innovations of the year for the smart factory. In the online vote for the Industrie 4.0 Innovation Award, users voted the software into third place.

Baumer, a sensor specialist in the canton of Thurgau, has been ranked third in the Industrie 4.0 Innovation Award for its Baumer Sensor Suite (BSS). According to a press release, the VDE publishing house is presenting this award to the ten best product innovations for the seventh time this year in conjunction with the German Electro and Digital Industry Association (Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektroindustrie – ZVEI) and the Standardization Council Industrie 4.0 (SCI 4.0).

Users voted the BSS into third place. The sensor specialist with headquarters in the St.GallenBodenseeArea offers a product that promotes integration by supporting manufacturer-independent standards.

One of the strengths, for the jury, is that the software enables the use of IO-Link devices across manufacturers. According to the company, the BSS is a PC software for the evaluation, selection and parameterization of IO-Link devices. Application developers can use it to implement IO-Link devices more efficiently, especially thanks to an intuitive visualization of the sensor functions.

The BSS is based on a future-proof software architecture and uses elements of the Microsoft Azure Cloud. Baumer writes that users have access to the latest software version and functions at all times. This makes BSS “an innovative tool for exploiting the full potential of IO-Link devices for smart manufacturing”.

The Industrie 4.0 Innovation Award ceremony will take place in December 2022.
