Switzerland to receive heads of state of German-speaking countries
Bad Ragaz/St.Gallen - Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter is inviting the heads of state of the German-speaking countries to Switzerland for the traditional meeting of the six countries. They will meet to discuss Europe's economic competitiveness in Bad Ragaz and St.Gallen on 4 and 5 September.
(CONNECT) The Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter and her husband Morten Keller are this year’s hosts of the traditional meeting of the six German-speaking heads of state. According to a press release, this year’s meeting will take place in Bad Ragaz and St.Gallen on 4 and 5 September. Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein, King Philippe of Belgium, the Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and the German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier have been invited with their spouses.
As part of initial talks in Bad Ragaz, current domestic and foreign policy issues are to be considered. On 5 September, the participants will discuss European competitiveness. The cultural program is dedicated to the St.Gallen textile industry and the history of the region, among other topics.
The annual informal meeting of the German-speaking heads of state has been held since 2004 and is hosted on a rotating basis by the participating countries. Switzerland last hosted the event in 2018. ce/mm
