Säntis Malt whiskies from Appenzell celebrate a golden treble
Appenzell - The whisky distillery Säntis Malt has been honored multiple times at the World Drink Awards 2025. The Säntis Malt Smoke & Peat Exploration Cognac Cask won three gold awards, with other whiskies made by Säntis securing silver awards.
(CONNECT) Säntis Malt, a whisky distillery based in Appenzell in the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden, Switzerland, has won multiple awards at the World Drink Awards 2025. According to a press release, the winner was the Säntis Malt Smoke & Peat Exploration Cognac Cask, which claimed the three most important awards. On Wednesday, March 26, the global winners of the World Whiskies Awards 2025 were announced, with this year’s award ceremony taking place at the Waldorf Hotel in London.
The Säntis Malt Smoke & Peat Exploration Cognac Cask won the highest award as the Best Swiss Small Batch Single Malt, as the press release explains. Moreover, it was a double gold winner in the Small Batch Single Malt 12 Years & Younger Switzerland category.
Other Säntis Malts earned recognition at the 2025 World Drink Awards. For example, the Säntis Malt Brosli was awarded a silver medal in the Single Malt category, with the Säntis Malt Vin Santo No. 1470 also securing a silver medal in the same category. Three Säntis Malts were additionally honored with bronze medals: Säntis Malt Trinity in the Single Malt category, Säntis Malt Triple Cask in the Small Batch Single Malt category, and Säntis Malt Sherry Cask – Cask 120, again in the Small Batch Single Malt category.
The whisky distillery Säntis Malt is owned by Brauerei Locher, a brewery that has been producing beer since 1886 and high quality whiskies at the Säntis Malt distillery since 1999. “These multiple awards once again underline the quality and innovative power of our Säntis Malts from Appenzell”, comments Aurèle Meyer, Managing Director of Brauerei Locher. ce/gba
