React and Solabs Nanotechnology launch anti-fog sports glasses

Basserdorf/Wattwil - Solabs Nanotechnology and React have jointly launched the Optray Sky SDT sports glasses. The Solar Defog Technology developed by Solabs absorbs infrared light from sunlight and turns this into heat. This ensures that fogging is removed ten times faster than with conventional glasses.

(CONNECTSolabs Nanotechnology GmbH, a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) that is based in Basserdorf in the canton of Zurich, is offering its Solar Defog Technology (SDT) commercially for the first time in cooperation with the Swiss sunglasses manufacturer optrel sports ag from Wattwil in the canton of St.Gallen and its React brand. According to a statement, the Optray Sky SDT sports glasses make use of integrated nanotechnology to facilitate virtually fog-free lenses for sports and outdoor activities.

The Solar Defog Technology developed by Solabs is based on an infrared-absorbing nanocoating, which absorbs up to 70 percent of the sun’s infrared light and converts it into heat. As a result, existing fogging disappears up to ten times quicker in sunlight than is the case with uncoated lenses. Thanks to React’s ShadeTronic technology, the glasses automatically adapt to changing light conditions within just 0.1 seconds.

The glasses are aimed at consumers that place a premium on sports and performance-focused eyewear. According to the statement, professional mountain biker Lars Forster is convinced by the anti-fog technology: “Even during intense climbs and sudden temperature changes, my line of sight remains clear – that makes all the difference in competition”.

The Optray Sky SDT glasses have been available at sports and eyewear retailers, as well via the React webshop and at selected online partners, since April 30, 2026. ce/ja
