Nussli’s new temporary concert arena in Bogotá to remain

Hüttwilen/Bogotá - Nussli from the canton of Thurgau has built a U-shaped concert arena for 45,000 spectators in the Columbian capital of Bogotá. The punk rock band Green Day was on stage at the sold-out premiere, followed by Shakira. The arena, which was built as a temporary structure, will remain in existence for up to ten years.

(CONNECTNussli‘s temporary concert arena in Bogotá will not be dismantled again. The operator OCESA Colombia has signed a long-term usage agreement with the city. According to a statement from the Nussli group specializing in event construction and special structures, the grandstands are to remain for up to ten years and serve as a venue for national and international concerts.

The project in the city located at 2,600 meters above sea level was realized through close cooperation between the Nussli teams from Switzerland, Mexico, Spain. This required also the coordination of 70 shipping containers with material from Europe. Assembly took place from early April to the beginning of July 2025.

The structure of the arena had previously been used in major international projects such as Formula 1, the Olympic Games and Adele’s concerts in Munich. For its premiere on 24 August, the new Bogotá Arena welcomed 45,000 fans of the punk rock band Green Day. On 1 November, 40,000 spectators saw a concert by Shakira.

Of the 45,000 seats, 17,300 are regular seats and 1,400 are VIP seats in two exclusive areas with separate access and their own staircase. Below the grandstand, 22 sales stands have been integrated. “This was our first project of this size in Colombia – we had to take every detail into account, from the climatic conditions to the statics,” explains Daniela Rugeles, project manager at Nussli Iberia and a Colombian herself. “The grandstands have a modular design and meet all local earthquake and safety standards.”

Such projects show what is possible “when expertise, passion and flexibility come together,” says Danilo Della Ca, COO Event Structures at Nussli. “Our teams have once again proven that Swiss engineering sets standards worldwide – even in tropical rain.” ce/mm
