Nüssli building Europe’s first eight-court sports hall

Hüttwilen/Monheim - In the German town of Monheim am Rhein, Nüssli is building the first eight-court sports hall in Europe. Two levels will each contain four hall units, which can be interconnected as required.

Nüssli Schweiz AG from Hüttwilen in the canton of Thurgau has been commissioned by Monheim am Rhein, a German town situated between Düsseldorf to the north and Cologne to the south, to construct a new eight-court sports hall. According to a press release issued by the specialist for temporary constructions based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, this is the first sports hall of its type anywhere in Europe.

It will feature two levels, each with a total of four hall units, which can be interconnected as required. Sports operations can therefore take place across eight individual hall segments in addition to two quadruple halls. The plans also include a grandstand with space for 500 spectators. “Many of our projects are special buildings that have never been seen before. We know of eight-unit halls in the USA and China, but in Europe, we are building the first – ultra-modern and perfectly equipped from a technical point of view”, comments project manager Mirco Amstad.

The new sports hall is to be built on the site of a school center. Constructing this large building using conventional methods would have taken too long for the people responsible, Nüssli explains. For this reason, Monheim awarded the contract to the temporary construction specialist Nüssli, who has also proven its expertise in the area of permanent construction as well. Nüssli’s quick-build approach and high-quality materials guarantee use for decades to come.

Nüssli is overseeing the construction of the new eight-court sports hall as total contractor. According to the press release, several partner firms in the areas of architecture, supporting structure, technical building equipment and fire protection are also involved.
