Molkerei Forster completing work on newbuild
Herisau – Molkerei Forster turns 40 this year. It is investing 32 million Swiss francs in a new yogurt factory at its headquarters in Herisau. Production is set to commence at the new facility this June.
Molkerei Forster was founded in May 1981 and has therefore reached an anniversary this year. Today, the Molkerei Forster dairy is the leading milk processor in Eastern Switzerland, as the company highlights on its website. Its growth is set to continue. According to an article on Herisau24.ch, the new yogurt factory in Herisau will also be creating new jobs in the area.
Overall, the dairy will be investing 32 million francs in the expansion. The plan had been to open the new facility on 1 May as part of the official 40th anniversary celebrations, but due to delays the opening has been postponed by around two months. Production is now set to go live on 21 June.
Currently, around 30 people work for the dairy, which is majority owned by the family of Heidi and Markus Forster. The company has concentrated on high-quality niche products with a focus on the organic segment. In this way, it is responding to the rising popularity of specialty products and a concomitant decline in milk consumption in Switzerland.
