Militzer & Münch establishes new country unit in Taiwan
St.Gallen/Taipei - The forwarding company Militzer & Münch has founded a new subsidiary in Taiwan. After China, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mongolia and India, the Taiwan office is the company’s newest addition in its efforts to serve the Asian market.
(CONNECT) Militzer & Münch (M&M), a logistics company based in St.Gallen, Switzerland, has opened a new country unit in Taiwan. With its new office, the Militzer & Münch Group is seeking to gradually expand its presence in the Far East as well as on the Indian subcontinent, as the company writes in a press release. Following on from the subsidiaries established in China, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mongolia and India, Taiwan is the company’s most recent country unit in the region.
The M&M country unit started operations on February 3. According to the press release, the team in Taiwan is being led by Igor Zarenko, a German national with more than 25 years of experience in the logistics sector in Asia.
“With its stable economy and favorable location in the Western Pacific, Taiwan is a logical addition to our activities in the region and an important element in the overall picture of our growth strategy in Asia”, as Andreas Löwenstein, Militzer & Münch Regional Managing Director Asia/Far East, explains in the press release.
The new country unit in Asia is a perfect fit for the group’s overall strategic growth concept, the company writes. The Taiwan Institute of Economic Research is projecting economic growth of more than three percent for 2025, with future technologies from the electronics and semiconductor industries expected to play a vital role in this.
Taiwan is also set to become a hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI). As such, demand for chips and servers is on the rise. According to M&M, well over half of all semiconductors produced around the world come from Taiwan, while the manufacturing of chemical products, metal goods and high-quality bicycles are also among the economic strengths of the island. ce/gba
