Metrohm launches new eluent generators
Herisau - Metrohm in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden is offering two new models for fully automated and contamination-free eluent generation. With these devices, the process analytics specialist aims to enhance efficiency and safety in ion chromatography and mass spectrometry.
(CONNECT) The process analytics specialist Metrohm has presented two new modules for fully automated and contamination-free eluent generation, eluents being the running agents that transport analytes through the chromatography column and separate them into their components through interaction with the stationary phase. The company in the St.GallenBodenseeArea shared further information on the modules in a press release.
The 948 Continuous IC Module enables the preparation of hydroxide eluents based on the electrolysis of water and using KOH, NaOH, and LiOH concentrates. With its high flexibility, the device is said to be suitable for routine laboratory analyses and also more complex applications with ion chromatography and mass spectrometry.
The 941 Eluent Production Module enables the production of carbonate and nitric acid-based eluents. Using Metrohm’s Dosino technology, the module produces eluents from a concentrate and ultrapure water in a software-controlled manner. It reportedly allows the creation of up to four different eluents at the same time. Continuous level monitoring of eluent containers, concentrates and waste is integrated into the software.
For both modules, concentrates can either be purchased or made individually in the composition as needed for the analysis. The new devices will supposedly help reduce operating costs through this elimination of manual steps and increased analytics safety. ce/ww
