Metrohm analyzer nominated for science award

Herisau AR - The DS2500 Liquid Analyzer from Metrohm, a manufacturer of precision instruments headquartered in Herisau, has been nominated for the renowned Scientists’ Choice Award. The near-infrared spectrometer can analyze liquid and viscous samples.

A new development by Metrohm, a manufacturer of precision instruments, has been nominated for the Scientists’ Choice Award. The DS2500 Liquid Analyzer is the newest benchtop near-infrared spectrometer from Metrohm. According to the press release, it was nominated in the category “Best New Spectroscopy Product of 2020”. The British publisher SelectScience has invited scientists to choose the analyzers they consider to be the best by February 8th.

Metrohm, based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, had already developed another new analyzer for laboratories back in September, the Eco KF Titrator, which is used for quality assurance. According to the manufacturer’s technical information, the DS2500 Liquid Analyzer that is currently nominated was developed for routine analysis of all type of liquid and viscous samples. In doing so, the DS2500 covers both the near-infrared range and the visible spectrum. Unlike conventional optical FT systems, the near-infrared spectrometer (NIRS) DS2500 Liquid Analyzer can also recognize sample color changes, for instance as a result of aging.

Another advantage reported by Metrohm is the device’s robustness; as it only has one rotating optical element, it can also be used in environments with strong vibrations. The precision instrument also incorporates rapid data collection; analysis results can be ready in as little as 30 seconds.
