Leica 3D machine control now available for Develon Series 9 crawler excavator

(CONNECT) Leica Geosystems from Heerbrugg in the canton of St.Gallen and South Korea’s Develon have announced in a press release that the Leica MC1 3D machine control solution is now available as an aftermarket kit for all Develon 9 Series crawler excavators. This is specifically designed for Develon’s industry-leading 2D technologies, such as the Virtual Wall, the Weighing System and the Advanced Lift Assist, and can therefore be seamlessly integrated into existing systems.

At the heart of the Series 9 excavators is an advanced, open control architecture that allows effortless real-time communication between the excavator’s built-in 2D sensors and the internal 3D system. Thanks to the cooperation between the companies, the 3D enhancements are faster, simpler and more cost-effective than ever, as Leica explains in the press release.

“This partnership seamlessly integrates the advanced capabilities of Develon’s 2D systems with Leica Geosystems’ 3D technology. With an efficient installation and calibration process, this collaboration empowers customers to work smarter and achieve results faster,” said Neil Williams, President of the Machine Control Division at Leica Geosystems.

According to the manufacturer, the Leica MC1 system is a universal software solution for controlling and automating a wide range of heavy construction machinery. The system is carried by the hardware platform, the Leica MCP 80 machine control panel and the MDS Series docking station.
