Kyburz to become part of the SIC Group

Rapperswil-Jona/Embrach - The SIC Group AG has acquired Kyburz. Following the change of ownership, the companies will aim to expand internationally in the commercial vehicle mobility sector. The location, brand name and management team will remain unchanged. Company founder Martin Kyburz is set to enter retirement.

(CONNECTKyburz Switzerland AG has been acquired by the investment firm SIC Group AG, based in Rapperswil-Jona in the Swiss canton of St.Gallen, as part of a long-planned succession arrangement, as the sustainable mobility solutions provider has now announced in a statement. The company’s values, strategic direction, site in Embrach in the canton of Zurich and brand, as well as its customer and supplier relationships, will remain unaffected by the acquisition. The company will continue to be led by CEO Dr. Stefan Breu, COO Flurin Vicentini and CSO Michael Heegewald.

For the next growth step in the areas of sustainable mobility and the circular economy, Kyburz has reportedly now joined forces with a strong owner that will “uphold our company’s values and ensure its long-term success”, as company founder Martin Kyburz,  who has decided to retire, explains in the statement. The acquisition will open up “new opportunities for the international growth of our company”, explains CEO Dr. Stefan Breu.

Kyburz specializes in the development, production, sale and servicing of electric commercial vehicles. According to the statement, these small electric vehicles are used in numerous electric delivery fleets across many European countries and Australia. Over the past 20 years, the DXP, DXC, DX2 and PLU vehicle platforms have achieved international success. Based on this, the company has expanded its capabilities in the fields of fleet management, digitalization and battery technology.

The fleet management division gave rise to the independent company Traconiq, which is based in Dällikon in the canton of Zurich. It develops and markets telematics and fleet management solutions for commercial vehicle fleets. Kyburz has also consolidated its position on the market for sustainable mobility solutions with the research and development of a direct recycling process for lithium-ion batteries. ce/heg
