HSG starts construction of learning center

St.Gallen – The University of St.Gallen has celebrated the groundbreaking of the HSG Learning Center. Forward-looking didactic methods will be the focus from spring 2022.

On Wednesday afternoon, “numerous guests from politics, sponsors, neighbors, students and employees” gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking at Campus Rosenberg in St.Gallen, announced the HSG.

“The new HSG Learning Center embodies the University of St.Gallen’s innovative spirit,” commented Paul Achleitner, President of the HSG Board of Trustees. “This unique project will significantly shape the future appearance of the university at Rosenberg.”

Construction is scheduled to start this year, with plans for a building in which rooms can be adapted for different didactic uses. During lectures, the HSG Learning Center will adopt primarily modern teaching methods, while for studying and exams, it will offer more space for learning. It will have 500 to 700 study and workplaces to create “additional space for learning in the digital era”.

“The HSG Learning Center is a flagship for the HSG’s development,” commented President Thomas Bieger. “It stands for the development of teaching and studying, so for University 4.0.”

The HSG Learning Center is an initiative of the HSG Foundation, which is projecting 50 million Swiss francs for construction and a further 10 million francs for the implementation of the didactic program. Of this total of 60 million, donations have so far amounted to more than 50 million francs.
