Hochuli offers energy saving bar

Wigoltingen TG - The metal construction company Hochuli has developed an innovative insulation web for thermal insulation of windows together with researchers at the Swiss Federal Laboratory for Materials Testing and Research. Frank Hochuli has established a separate company for this.

Researchers at the Swiss Federal Laboratory for Materials Testing and Research (Empa) have developed an innovative type of insulation for windows. According to a press release, the insulation web is like a sandwich with an environmentally friendly filling. Inside, it contains foam made from recycled PET bottles with microscopic air bubbles. This “energy saving bar” for windows has a very high thermal insulation value. The bar was developed by an Empa team led by Michel Barbezat and Giovanni Terrasi from the Mechanical Systems Engineering lab together with experts from Hochuli, a metal construction company based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea.

The company owner, Frank Hochuli, founded a sister company called Hochuli Advanced for the project, which is offering the insulation web under the Alpet brand. Compared with current, high-quality designs, the thermal insulation in a new office building, for example, could be improved by around a fifth, Frank Hochuli states in the press release.

Today, the senior management of the family company founded in 1900 comprises Frank Hochuli and Jörg Hochuli. Hochuli Advanced AG is also located in the tried and tested location of Wigoltingen in the canton of Thurgau. Currently around 50 trained specialists work at Hochuli Metallbau, and seven apprentices are being trained at the factory.
