Dübendorf/St.Gallen - Helsana has agreed a deal to acquire Adcubum AG. The provider of health and accident insurance software will remain an independent company with its headquarters in St.Gallen. All employees are to be retained.

(CONNECTHelsana AG is making targeted investments in its software portfolio and to this end has reached a deal to acquire Adcubum AG. According to a press release issued by the insurance group from Dübendorf in the canton of Zurich, the two parties agreed not to disclose any details regarding the purchase price. The previous majority shareholder in the specialist for insurance software was the Boston-based venture capital firm TA Associates Management.

Following the takeover, the health insurance provider Helsana “is gaining a long-term Swiss owner that is also an important client”, as the company states. According to the information, Helsana and Adcubum have been working together for more than a decade. The insurance group points out that the takeover should be seen in the context of Helsana’s strategic development, whereby the acquisition reportedly strengthens its digital expertise and represents a decisive step in the direction of even greater efficiency and innovation.

Helsana will continue to operate Adcubum as an independent company, while operational management will remain with the current leadership team. Moreover, all employees are to be retained. The majority of Adcubum’s new Board of Directors will also be made up of individuals who are independent of Helsana. All clients will benefit from equal access to products and services.

“With this investment, Helsana wants to preserve and further develop its stable, efficient and innovative health insurance software”, as CEO Roman Sonderegger explains. “The investments and targeted innovations for the software benefit Helsana and all of the health and accident insurance providers that work with Adcubum. This ultimately benefits millions of insured persons throughout Switzerland”. ce/mm
