Flumroc receives industry awards in Gold and Bronze

Flumroc has been honored with two gold and one bronze Architects’ Darling awards. The Swiss insulation specialist scored highly in three categories: it was presented with the gold award in both fire safety and sustainability as well as a bronze Architects’ Darling in the façades category. For the company, the awards “are proof that our work in sustainability and fire safety is following the right course,” it was reported in press release from the company in the St.GallenBodenseeArea.

With the Architects’ Darling, architects and planners have for the 11th time recognized the best manufacturers in the building industry. The favorites were determined through a multimedia survey of architects and planners by market research company Heinze. Alongside product quality and price-performance ratio, advisory expertise, sustainability and brand trust were incorporated in the assessment

Flumroc has been a renowned manufacturer of high-quality insulation material for thermal insulation, soundproofing and fire protection for more than 70 years. According to information provided by the company, Flumroc is the only Swiss manufacturer of stone wool. The high-quality insulation material is sourced from Swiss rock, which is melted at temperatures of 1,500°C in a blast furnace. The greater portion of rock is extracted from stone quarries in the Graubünden region around Felsberg and Zernez. This is supplemented with rocks from Austria’s Tyrol and Germany as well as recycled production and construction waste. Advantages include that the original properties are largely preserved “despite several refining processes”. The company states that Flumroc stone wool can be 100 percent repurposed. The stone wool scraps left after manufacture are returned into the production chain.
