Ernst Sutter AG uses wood chips to heat headquarters

Gossau SG – Meat processing company Ernst Sutter AG is heating its Gossau headquarters with the new wood chips system developed by Schlachtbetrieb St.Gallen AG. Ernst Sutter AG provided technical support for the project.

The new wood chips system in use at Schlachtbetrieb St.Gallen AG (SBAG), Ernst Sutter AG and the neighbouring branch of Spar provides CO2-neutral heat, according to a statement. Present at the system’s inauguration in Gossau were Mayor Wolfgang Giella and Ernst Sutter, President of the Board of SBAG.

As co-owner, Ernst Sutter AG managed and provided technical support for the “visionary project”. “The plant corresponds to the latest standards in energy technology and sustainability,” commented Stefano Martinetti, Head of Plots and Technology at Ernst Sutter AG and Director of the project.

The heating system uses wood chips sourced within a 100-kilometre radius. During the opening ceremony, Giella praised the “pioneering work in the effort towards regional sustainability”, writes Ernst Sutter AG.
