Ernst Sutter meat products recognized with DLG awards

Gossau/Frankfurt - The German Agricultural Society (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft: DLG) has given 19 gold awards to products made by Ernst Sutter AG, based in Gossau in the canton of St.Gallen. The manufacturer of meat products also received the award for longstanding product quality, for the 12th year running.

The Frankfurt am Main-based German Agricultural Association has given 19 gold awards to meat and sausage manufacturer Ernst Sutter, which is located in the St.GallenBodenseeArea. The company also received three silver awards, two bronze awards and a distinction for longstanding product quality, according to a press release.

The press release says the meat processing company was praised for its “consistently high quality” for the 12th year running. To receive this seal of approval, a company must have won awards for at least three products for five years running. According to the press release, “Ernst Sutter AG has achieved this every year to date – which spurs us on to continue participating in voluntary quality controls and producing outstanding products.”

As well as the traditional products made at the meat products factory, regional products under the Braumeister brand, such as Appenzeller Rauchspeck (Appenzell smoked bacon) and Appenzeller Schinken (Appenzell ham), also performed very well and won gold awards this year. Other gold-winning specialties included Emmentaler Käsewurst (Emmental cheese sausage), Bündner Rohschinken (cured ham from Graubünden ), and St.Galler Bratwurst IGP (St.Gallen sausage PGI).

DLG states on its website that it tests 25,000 food and drink products from Switzerland and abroad each year. Its process includes sensory quality tests, chemical, microbiological and physical analyses, and preparation, packaging and labeling tests, all of which are conducted in compliance with an accredited test method.

According to DLG, its awards increase buyer readiness by up to 10 per cent, and acceptance of higher prices by 8 per cent. They can also be used for marketing and communication purposes. ce/ko
