DigitalLab@HSR: Knowing and implementing your digitalization strategy
Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things, Digitalization. These are three notions in which more and more people in the corporate world are taking a stake. At the same time, they are raising their fair share of questions. In the St.GallenBodenseeArea (SGBA), these questions are being answered at the DigitalLab@HSR in Rapperswil-Jona. International companies and SME that are considering an expansion or relocation to the SGBA will find answers to all matters about digitalization and the opportunities in business and technology it holds.
In 2016, the University of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil (HSR), the University of St.Gallen (HSG) and global IT consulting firm Cognizant launched this joint initiative, so SME can get a real-world grip on core concepts of the digital revolution. Focusing on close collaboration at the interface of research and business practice, DigitalLab@HSR is empowering companies to thoroughly discuss the effects and benefits of digitalization, the changes it yields in business models and technological solutions, and its great potential to develop new products and services.
Carefully structured workshops and projects enable decision-makers, senior business and technology experts to jointly and thoroughly understand all relevant aspects of digitalization and break them down to individual company level. Embedding HSR’s extended technological clout as well as the competencies of the University St.Gallen HSG and Cognizant in business model innovation and SMAC applications (Social, Mobile, Analytics, Cloud) allows for maximum focus and concentration of interdisciplinary know-how. The combination of scientific knowledge and its practical application provides an ideal foundation to launch and further define new business models, products and process chains that are set to thrive under the auspices of digitalization.
Project specific work groups and teams from the three institutions are collaborating to develop ideas and solutions and strive to implement them in prototypes within record time. Subsequently, professional change management guarantees organizational acceptance and allows for sustainable transformations.
In a nutshell, the DigitalLab@HSR’s formula for success is simply the realization of a series of small, controllable and quick steps of digitalization that will benefit every company.
