Arbonia expands presence in Europe
Arbon/Ourém/Rüthen - Arbonia AG has acquired Portuguese Cicomol SA and German Rüthener Zargenbau GmbH & CoKG. With these acquisitions, the Swiss specialist in interior doors made of wood, glass, and metal, which is based in the canton of Thurgau, aims to increase its market share in Europe.
(CONNECT) Arbonia AG is strengthening its market position in Europe. The Arbon-based company, which specializes in interior doors made of wood, glass, and metal, has acquired Portuguese door manufacturer Cicomol with effect from 15 October, according to a statement from Arbonia. On 9 October, Arbonia completed the acquisition of the German specialist in custom metal frames, Rüthener Zargenbau GmbH & CoKG. Last year, the two companies generated combined sales of around 20 million euros.
Arbonia expects the acquisition of Cicomol SA, which is reportedly the market leader in Portugal, to strengthen its position in the Portuguese specialist trade and generate sales synergies in Spain, Portugal, and France. The second acquisition, of Rüthener Zargenbau, is intended to fill a gap in Arbonia's portfolio, according to the statement. In the past, Arbonia, which is internationally active, sourced most of its metal frames externally. The company therefore describes both acquisitions as margin-enhancing and value-adding.
The transactions include the takeover of around 130 employees from Cicomol and just under 40 employees from Rüthener Zargenbau. The management teams of both companies will also remain in their positions. ce/hs
