The canton of Thurgau joins others investing in the Innovationspark Ost. On Wednesday, the cantonal parliament approved a supplementary credit of 250,000 Swiss francs for this. Member of the cantonal parliament Reto Ammann (GLP) is quoted in an article by the “Tagblatt”, saying: “The Innovationspark Ost is a pledge for success.” The responsible member of the Thurgau government, Walter Schönholzer (FDP), adds that it is a “unique thing to integrate university graduates with their knowledge into our jobs and technologies”.

The Innovationspark Ost plans to promote the areas of health and digitization as well as the machinery, electrical and metal (MEM) industries. It will be operated as part of the Switzerland Innovation network. The main site of the Innovationspark Ost is on the Lerchenfeld campus in the canton of St.Gallen, located at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa). There is another St.Gallen location in Buchs.

Both companies and scientific institutions will be able to use the Innovationspark Ost, where development and laboratory facilities as well as the corresponding working infrastructure will be available. These companies and research institutes from the areas of health, digitization, and the MEM industries should be able to increase their competitiveness through joint innovation projects.

In addition to the canton of Thurgau, the cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, and St.Gallen as well as the Principality of Liechtenstein have shares in the corporation. The Innovationspark Ost was officially incorporated on September 2.
