Crowd funding pays for circus tent

Rapperswil-Jona SG – Circus Knie is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. Thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign, it is marking the anniversary with a new circus tent.

Circus Knie set a financing goal of 250,000 Swiss francs – but has now closed the campaign with an impressive 254,101 francs. For the financing campaign, the circus from the St.GallenBodenseeArea worked with Raiffeisen Bank’s platform lokalhelden.

“At 100 years old, we looked to new and modern means of financing for the circus tent in crowd funding – and it paid off,” commented circus director Fredy Knie junior.

The four-month crowd funding campaign had 498 participants and contributions ranged from five to several thousand francs, with an average of 510 francs per person. The names of 104 of the donors will appear on the circus tent, while all participants will be entered into a draw to win a weekend at Circus Knie.

“Thank you very much to everyone who supported our crowd funding campaign. We are delighted that so many circus fans are now part of Circus Knie. This solidarity makes us very proud,” added Knie Junior.

Circus Knie opens its anniversary season on 21 March in Rapperswil.
