BRUSA Hy Power develops in-house test bench
Buchs - BRUSA Hy Power AG in the canton of St.Gallen has developed an in-house test bench concept. This system will help the supplier of high-performance electronics for e-mobility significantly reduce energy and investment cost. Its specially developed test concept can be used at all production sites.
Based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, BRUSA HyPower AG has successfully developed its own in-house test bench system, as was reported in a press release. The new concept was necessary because of the rigorous tests that must be undergone by the great many different products in the field of on-board charging systems, direct current converters and fuel cells and battery electric vehicle converters.
The in-house test bench system that has been developed by company engineers allows for products to undergo testing at the respective production site. The specially developed concept allows several hundred kilowatts to be circulated between two test units. “The specially developed test benches have enabled us to reduce investment costs to below 20 percent compared to conventional test benches,” explains Adin Tuhcic, Head of Test Systems & Infrastructure at BRUSA HyPower.
In addition to the concept design, electrical engineering and mechanical manufacturing, the test software was also developed 100 percent in-house. The test software features a so-called “watchdog” that monitors the safety limits and immediately notifies the operators or initiates a controlled shutdown of the system if any limits are exceeded or undershot.
The in-house test bench design has been in operation since the beginning of 2023, with an initial seven systems in Switzerland, and is now being launched at the company’s Chinese production site in Shenzhen.
BRUSA HyPower was founded in 2021 as a spin-off from BRUSA Elektronik AG and is a leading supplier of power electronics for e-mobility. The company is based at BRUSA’s new headquarters in Buchs in the canton of St.Gallen. ww
