Sample robot boosts productivity

Herisau AR – Metrohm, a manufacturer of high-precision instruments, has developed a robot for handling samples in laboratories. It maximises throughput while at the same time cutting the time and cost per sample.

The OMNIS Sample Robot is available in a range of sizes, as was reported by Metrohm in a press release. Sample Robot S enables the automated analysis of up to 50 samples, Sample Robot M can handle 125 samples and OMNIS Sample Robot L can even analyse up to 175 samples.

The OMNIS Sample Robot can accommodate up to four work stations, which has the potential to reduce the time for performing the application by 60 per cent. As a result, the analysis cost per sample also drops. A further advantage of the OMNIS Sample Robot is the hot-swapping of sample racks. The continuous reloading of sample racks means that when the Sample Robot has finished analysing the samples on a particular rack, it can be simply exchanged while the system keeps working.
