St.Gallen/Schlieren ZH/Leipzig - The Ostschweizer Schulungs- und Trainingszentrum (OSTZ) of St.Gallen Cantonal Hospital is joining forces with VirtaMed and Area9 Lyceum. Together, the new partners are launching a project focusing on the digital transformation of medical education in Switzerland.

The Ostschweizer Schulungs- und Trainingszentrum (OSTZ), which is the medical education center of St.Gallen Cantonal Hospital, is collaborating on a project aimed at improving medical training together with VirtaMed based in Schlieren in the canton of Zurich and Area9 Lyceum, further details of which can be found in a press release. The “Digital Transformation of Medical Education” project was initiated by OSTZ and uses the Area9 Rhapsode CAPABLE platform in order to redefine medical training on the basis of adaptive learning, personalization driven by Artificial Intelligence and systematically oriented learning modules, as the global e-learning provider Area9, whose headquarters for the German-speaking DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) region are located in Leipzig, explains further in the press release.

The OSTZ is integrating this technology to create a learning and training environment based on the concept of Deliberate Practice, which encompasses the four dimensions of learning, skills, character development and metacognition. In this way, a unique learning ecosystem for medical education can be created, the press release states.

With its devices and together with the digital platform Rhapsode, VirtaMed, which specializes in the area of medical simulators, offers practical training opportunities that feature adaptive learning modules, face-to-face courses and independent training. According to the press release, this partnership will ensure comprehensive medical training that includes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to maximize competence and enhance patient safety. ce/gba
