Metrohm presents new analyzer

Herisau AR – Precision instruments manufacturer Metrohm has launched a new handheld material identification system. The Mira DS is designed for police, bomb technicians and other first responders who come in contact with hazardous goods.

The Mira DS can identify illicit substances and explosives at just the push of a button, writes Metrohm in a statement. The precision instruments manufacturer from the St.GallenBodenseeArea developed the handheld device in cooperation with professional first responders. Alongside ease of use and speed, the device was designed in particular with the safety of its users in mind.

The analyzer is capable of identifying thousands of substances and mixtures, allowing it to be used by drug taskforce officers to identify substances in glass bottles or plastic containers. Thanks to an array of sampling attachments, the Mira DS can even analyze substances from a distance or identify the contents of plastic bags simply by placing the top of an attachment onto the bag.

First responders can also assess the risks associated with a substance by interfacing the Mira DS with the HazMasterG3 app. The device can detect substances even when they are present in trace quantities.
