Berlinger makes it more difficult to tamper with doping samples

Ganterschwil SG – The Swiss company Berlinger Special AG has launched a new generation of anti-doping security bottles, which are scheduled to be delivered to selected anti-doping authorities in the second half of this year.

Berlinger Special AG developed the new security bottles to make it more difficult to create counterfeit doping samples or tamper with existing samples, according to a Berlinger statement. Two forensic examination reports, which were recently produced by the McLaren Commission on behalf of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), played a key role in the design of its new safety bottles. It took ten months to develop the latest generation of security bottles, the BEREG-KIT Geneva, and they are now undergoing extensive testing.

The technology company from the St.GallenBodenseeArea plans to launch the new bottles this autumn. For security reasons, no images of the new security bottles are being published, and the new bottles will be almost identical to their predecessors to the untrained eye, explains Berlinger. However, their specialists are able to identify any doping samples that have been counterfeited or tampered with.

Berlinger has worked hard to ensure that the new security features of the bottles “have no impact on how they are handled and how doping samples are provided”. This means that there will be no changes to how either athletes or supervisory authorities use the bottles.
