Eastern Switzerland delves into artificial intelligence

St.Gallen – The “Ostschweizer Technologie Symposium” will take place on August 23 at the Olma Messen in St.Gallen. The technology congress is expected to attract around 250 participants from the Lake Constance region and will focus on artificial intelligence and production automation.

The Ostschweizer Technologie Symposium (OTS) kicks off at 9am on August 23 in the Olma Hall 2.1, announced the University of Applied Sciences Buchs (NTB). The NTB is hosting the congress alongside the University of Applied Sciences St.Gallen (FHS) and the Produktions- und Technologieverbund Ostschweiz (PTV), with sponsorship from the Industrie- und Handelskammer St.Gallen-Appenzell.

Now in its 19th year, the OTS is a knowledge transfer platform that gives around 250 participants from the Lake Constance region the chance to discuss issues such as artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. It will focus on key technologies, whose success and dynamism depends on “immense innovation in processor and storage technology, cloud computing, and sensor and robotics systems”, according to the NTB.

AI-based systems are capable of autonomous programming and programming other systems, so can improve efficiency in production. “We are seeing a shift in smart production control from humans to machinery and parts,” added the NTB. To delve further into this field, a range of speakers have been invited to the congress, and Peter Frischknecht of the startup support initiative Startfeld will host a panel discussion.
