DGS inaugurates largest casting cell in Switzerland

St.Gallen – The automotive component manufacturer DGS has invested in a new production hall for its site. Large components for electric vehicles of the future are to be manufactured here. According to a local politician, this represents a strong signal of commitment to the location.

DGS Druckguss Systeme AG in the St.Gallen neighborhood of Winkeln is now home to the largest casting cell in Switzerland. This has now been put into operation. The automotive and supplier industry is “in the midst of a storm”, according to Walter Locher, President of the Supervisory Board. Yet the automotive part manufacturer from the St.GallenBodenseeArea has taken a proactive approach, according to “Tagblatt”: the new production hall will produce components for electric cars that are not yet available on the market. The company is therefore tapping into a new product segment. “Courageous investments have paid off for us over the past few years”, explains Andreas Müller, CEO of DGS, in the newspaper article.

The new production site was made operational within the space of just five-and-a-half months. However, this would never have been possible without effective collaboration from the authorities, Müller comments. Bruno Damann (CVP), Member of the Cantonal Government of St.Gallen, underlined that this investment represents a strong signal of commitment to the location: “St.Gallen will be involved in the future of the automotive industry”.
