Award for swisca

Appenzell – The Best-of-Show-Award was presented to swisca AG at a milling trade fair in the USA. The startup manufactures measuring scales and other instruments for use in the milling industry.

Based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, swisca AG manufactures precision instruments for use in grain milling. These include different measuring scales, control units and other instruments necessary in grain processing. The startup recently attended the Annual Conference of the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) in the USA and was honored with the prestigious Best of Show Award at the event, as was reported in a press release.

The jury of experts was especially impressed by the startup’s unique Dampe dampening system. This system uses nozzles to spray the grain with fog of water at the very beginning of the processing chain in the mill. This improves the separation of the hull and the endosperm inside the grain, enabling higher efficiency and yield in flour production. At the same time, swisca reports that its innovation offers an energy efficiency that is “unrivalled” in the market and a high level of food safety.

This award is very much coveted by the startup, as the IAOM Annual Conference is the premier educational event for grain milling and seed processing professionals. This year was also the 125th anniversary conference for the association.

The machines made by swisca AG are exported to over 40 countries. They are all manufactured in Appenzell. The company also works with local partners. The award-winning Dampe system, for example, was developed in collaboration with Trinox Engineering AG from St.Gallen.
