Nanoglue impresses Venture Kick jury

St.Gallen – St.Gallen-based start-up Nanoglue has received CHF 40,000 from the Venture Kick initiative. The company uses nanotechnology to increase the efficacy of skin grafts.

Nanoglue from the St.GallenBodenseeArea and Adiposs, a Geneva-based start-up, came out winners in the latest Venture Kick round. According to a press release, the two start-ups impressed the jury with their business models and walked away with CHF 40,000 each.

Nanoglue uses a nanotechnology developed at the Swiss Federal Institute for Technology (ETH) in Zurich to make a paste that can help skin grafts better adhere. This boosts the body’s healing process and reduces the risk of infectious bacteria in the wound.

It collaborated with other academic institutions to develop its product, including the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) in St.Gallen. Inga Katrin Herrman, an Empa expert on nanoparticles, is a scientific advisor to Nanoglue.

The start-up from the St.GallenBodenSeeArea now plans to conduct long-term toxicity texts and present its technology at international medtech conferences. Its goal is to launch a financing round by the end of 2020.

Venture Kick supports start-ups from initial idea to founding a company. The Venture Kick Foundation is mandated by the IFJ Institute for Young Entrepreneurs, which has offices in St.Gallen, Schlieren and Lausanne, to operate the initiative.
