Baumer develops sensors for harsh outdoor conditions

Frauenfeld TG – Baumer, a leading manufacturer of sensors, has developed a new series of compact inclination sensors. These are suited for use in harsh outdoor conditions.

The new GIM140R series comprises inclination sensors with a robust industrial design, it was reported in a press release from Baumer. These sensors can be used to measure angles in harsh outdoor conditions. They ensure reliable measurements of tilt angles even in very demanding environments, the precision device manufacturer from the St.GallenBodenseeArea explained.

One advantage of this new series is its compact design: at 48mm it “provides maximum flexibility in system planning and design”. The installation depth is just 14mm and it excels by an absolute measuring accuracy of up to ±0.4˚. In addition, the sensors can be used in a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

The inclination sensors are particularly qualified for applications in industrial and mobile automation. The robust and resilient aluminium housing and the all-encapsulated electronics allow for continuous outdoor operation of this sensor at mobile installations.
