Swiss Post acquires majority shareholding in Steriplus

Kaltbrunn SG/Uster/Wetzikon ZH - Swiss Post has taken over two thirds of the shares of Steriplus AG. The logistics firm offers solutions for medical consumables and processes instruments required in surgery. Up to now, the two hospitals in Uster and Wetzikon had each held a stake of 50 percent in Steriplus.

Swiss Post is seeking to further strengthen its reputation as a logistics provider in the healthcare industry and has, to this end, acquired two thirds of the shares in Steriplus AG, further details of which can be found in a press release. The logistics firm was founded in 2020 by the hospitals in Wetzikon and Uster, which up to now had each held a stake of 50 percent in Steriplus.

Steriplus specializes in the supply chain of medical consumables and focuses on the processing of surgical instruments. At present, Steriplus is still in the process of building its headquarters in the St.GallenBodenseeArea and will take over responsibility for these tasks in the Uster and Wetzikon hospitals from spring 2022. “The hospitals can concentrate on their core tasks, the medical care of their patients. In the meantime, Steriplus AG will assume full responsibility for processing and logistics tasks with the greatest possible degree of automation”, explains Judith Schürmeyer, President of the Board of Directors of Steriplus AG and COO of Wetzikon hospital, in the press release. “With Swiss Post coming on board, we now have a reliable partner with extensive logistics expertise at our side”, she adds.

Alongside Schürmeyer and Andreas Greulich, Daniel Vögeli, Head of the Industry Solutions business unit and Chief Commercial Officer at Swiss Post, as well as Thomas Wälchli and Simon Kilchenmann, likewise both of Swiss Post, have also newly joined the Board of Directors of Steriplus. As detailed in a press release issued by Steriplus, Magdalena Biraima from the Cantonal Hospital of St.Gallen, rounds off the newly composed board.
