With the newly established Institute for Finance and Law in addition to the Institute for Strategy and Marketing, the university is seeking to upgrade its competencies in these fields.

In order to more effectively confront emerging social and economic challenges, OST - Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences is expanding its departments for finance and marketing. To this end, the current Institute for Business Management is to be split into two new institutes, further details of which can be found in a press release.

The Institute for Finance und Law (IFL), which is to be headed up by Ernesto Turnes, will be developed into a new competence platform for banking, finance, accounting, controlling and business law. In this context, the IFL will be split into three centers focused on specific areas: accounting and corporate finance, banking and finance, and business law. With these competence centers, the institute is aiming to cover all financial, accounting and legal aspects under one roof.

With the Institute for Strategy and Marketing (ISM), which was founded at the same time as the IFL, the aim is to establish a competence platform for strategic and market-oriented corporate management. “We are creating added value for our stakeholders in Eastern Switzerland and beyond by conducting excellent applied research projects in the fields of strategy and marketing and transferring the results to business practice, management training and teaching”, comments Dietmar Kremmel, who will head up the new institute. The spectrum of activities at the ISM ranges from market research and the conception of innovative management and business model strategies all the way through to the design and pricing of new products and services. Companies and start-ups stand to benefit from effective support in relation to their positioning and market development. ww.
