Innovative distillery to begin operations

Amlikon-Bissegg TG – Macardo Swiss Distillery GmbH is due to open its new building in Amlikon-Bissegg on November 28. This comprises a distillery complete with barrel store, apartments, an event room as well as a bar that features a cigar lounge.

According to a press release issued by Macardo Swiss Distillery GmbH, the company’s new building in Amlikon-Bissegg in the canton of Thurgau is “the most modern distillery in Switzerland”. Moreover, the barrel storage can even be regarded as the most innovative of its kind throughout Europe, the company from the St.GallenBodenseeArea writes further in the press release. Two days of celebrations had originally been planned to inaugurate the new building, although the coronavirus crisis has put a stop to this. “Nevertheless, on November 28, 2020, we will be opening the new building and will put the distillery, premium B&B, event room and honesty bar with cigar lounge into operation”, comments Martina Bössow, owner of Macardo Swiss Distillery GmbH, in the press release.

A visitor shop that has also been integrated in the new building will likewise be available upon opening. This will sell products including fine brandies, Macardo disinfectants and a “global premiere for all whisky fans”, Bössow states in the press release. In addition, from November 30, small groups of up to six people will be able to tour the new building free of charge. Tours can be booked by registering in advance.

The new building has been constructed on the site of a cheese factory that stood for more than 100 years old, with the building design combining parts of the old structure with more modern facades. At the distillery there is a focus on craftsmanship underpinned by sustainable processes. Modern technology is also used in the barrel store, which ensures an optimal room climate with space for 400 barrels. A total of ten rooms and two apartments are also offered to visitors on a B&B basis in addition to the bar and lounge, shop and event room.
