A 50-Years-Milestone: Celebrating the Cooperation and Partnership between the Asian Development Bank and Switzerland

51 years ago, the Philippines capital Manila was the site of the establishment of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), its main objective being to reduce poverty and to minimize disaster risks in Asia and the Pacific. Already the following year, Switzerland became an official member of ADB. This October, the successful partnership of 50 years will be recognized and celebrated at an anniversary event in the St.GallenBodenseeArea (SGBA).

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a multilateral development bank based in Manila, the Philippines. Switzerland has been a member state since 1967. The Swiss confederation is actively involved in areas such as reduction of poverty, disaster control and emergency management, as well as further development of the private sector through supporting inclusive and environmentally sustainable economic growth in the Asia-Pacific.

The successful 50-years partnership between ADB and Switzerland will be honored at an anniversary celebration on Thursday, October 19th 2017, from 4.45pm to 8pm, co-hosted by the University of St.Gallen at the Einstein Hotel in downtown St.Gallen. Co-organizers of the prestigious event are the ADB, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the University of St.Gallen, and the Swiss-Japanese Chamber of Commerce.

Interested parties and partners of the St.GallenBodenseeArea are cordially invited to attend the anniversary.
