Bartholet builds gondola lift in Narvik

Flums SG – Swiss ropeway manufacturer Bartholet has concluded its first project in Scandinavia. A new ten-passenger gondola lift has been inaugurated in the Norwegian port of Narvik.

This facility in Narvik is the first ten-seater gondola lift made by  Bartholet, it was reported in a press release. The new gondola lift replaces an existing group lift on a new route, increasing the capacity from 350 to 1,450 passengers per hour. There is also the possibility of integrating more vehicles and expanding the capacity to 2,400 passengers per hour.

The cabins feature a unique “Design by Porsche Design Studio” and are wheelchair accessible. The doors were developed specially for Narvik and the windows are made of laminated safety glass. Ski holders were also integrated inside the gondolas.

At the moment, the lift connects the Skistua middle station with the Narvikfjellet viewing platform higher up. There are plans to add a valley station, which will enable passengers to go directly from the lift to the town center, the company from the St.GallenBodenseeArea revealed in the press release.
