Data centre in Eastern Switzerland opens for business

Gais AR – The most energy-efficient data centre in Switzerland has opened its doors for business, and LEXO GmbH has become the first company to move its central computer to the new data centre in Eastern Switzerland.

The final touches still need to be put on the building, but the data centre in Eastern Switzerland (Rechenzentrum Ostschweiz) is now offering its full range of services to customers. With LEXO GmbH, an IT company from Speicherschwendi in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, the data centre in the St.GallenBodenseeArea already has its first customer.

“For us, technology is like the air we breathe. I would describe us as ‘technical nerds’, and as such we are very proud to be the first to move into Switzerland’s most modern data centre,” said LEXO CEO Marcus Fleuti.

“The move went off without a hitch. Our servers are installed, everything runs perfectly and very fast. In retrospect, I can say that the entire cooperation with those in charge was absolutely professional, courteous and uncomplicated.”

Christoph Baumgärtner, project manager of the data centre, calls LEXO GmbH’s move a “highlight”.

“On this day we all became aware of what and how much had been achieved up to this point. With tremendous dedication and high expertise, a team of around 200 internal and external specialists created something here that we can all be proud of,” Baumgärtner said.

Other companies are expected to move their servers into the data centre into the near future.
