Baumer sensors raising the bar
Frauenfeld TG – Sensor manufacturer Baumer has defined “Beyond the Standard” as the guiding principle for its product range. In this context, it is implementing measures to ensure customers are offered standard components that in fact set the bar much higher.
Baumer outlined in a press release how it intends to deliver “high quality as standard rather than expensive specialized solutions” through its “Beyond the Standard” approach. In sensor production this involves consideration of various principles. The defined areas are: “reliable” for greater dependability, “robust” for a longer life, “connected” for more intelligent functions, “compact” for improved performance in the smallest space, “precise” for greater accuracy and “usability” for improved user-friendliness.
Taking into account these principles, the sensor manufacturer from the St.GallenBodenseeArea is in a position to offer standard components and consequently benefit in numerous ways. It enables existing parts to be reused, speeding up product development. In addition, quality can be ensured and error rates reduced, which ultimately reduces operating costs.
However, having standard components also makes it more difficult to achieve high-level specialization of products. Baumer knows to prevent this by offering a correspondingly broad product portfolio. “This means a specialized solution only needs to be developed in situations where the application is truly too specialized and therefore not covered by the portfolio,” the company explains in the press release. What’s more, the principles that have been defined for “Beyond the Standard” ensure that standard at Baumer is in fact above-average. “Our sensors therefore raise the bar a good deal higher – they are always the standard solution that sets a new standard”.
