Prix SVC Eastern Switzerland 2018: Corvaglia wins; more SGBA Companies Runners-up

As previously reported here (http://www.sgba.ch/en/news/sgba-news/nase-vorn-fuenf-von-sechs-fuer-den-ostschweizer-prix-svc-2018-nominierte-unternehmen-aus-der-sgba-401.html), March 8th was the date for the Prix SVC Eastern Switzerland 2018 Awards. And now we have a winner: The Corvaglia AG from Eschlikon, in the canton Thurgau, a manufacturer and supplier of innovative cap solutions (e.g. for PET bottles) for large, well-known international clients. Runner-up and in third place were also companies from the GallenBodenseeArea (SGBA): HB-Therm, another plastics specialist from St.Gallen came in second, digital full-service agency Namics took third place, ahead of the other finalists Büchi Labortechnik, MS Direct Group and Uffer.

“Romeo Corvaglia has built a company that left our jurors awestruck: From scratch, he built a global company and a team for the worldwide distribution of highly innovative products that are manufactured in production plants located here in Switzerland, in the U.S. and in Mexico”, said president of the SVC jury Thomas Zellweger, Dean of the Center for Family Business at the University of St.Gallen, in his speech honoring the winner from the SGBA in front of nearly 1'000 invited guests from the SGBA’s business, political and society’s rank and file.

Second place went to HB-Therm AG from the city of St.Gallen, which the jury considered an up-and-coming “Hidden Champion”, whose staff of 130 is constantly setting benchmarks for “Made in Eastern Switzerland” when it comes to innovative temperature control equipment. Accordingly, the jury’s expert opinion made it a point to emphasize an “extremely committed team” with a “laser-sharp focus on innovation and quality”. The St.Gallen-based manufacturing plant ships temperature control equipment to its distribution subsidiaries in Germany and France and via global distribution network to 50 additional countries.

Yet another SGBA company took third place: Namics, a leading full service digital agency for e-commerce, websites & portals and digital communication. Namics serves as a strategic partner for digital change management; 500 employees deliver one-stop e-business solutions in strategic consulting, creative concept & design as well as technical implementation.

In a multi-step procedure, the jury of 13 had narrowed down an initial field of over 150 companies to six finalists. Based on the quality and innovation of their products and processes, their commitment to the region, the workmanship of staff and management, and on their proven track record of business success, those six did not only convince the jury, but also proved to be apt ambassadors for the possibilities the SGBA can offer to dynamic and ambitious international companies looking for new growth opportunities.
