HSR RobOlympics enjoys record number of participants

Rapperswil-Jona SG – Forty school groups from Switzerland and Germany took part in this year’s RobOlympics of the University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil (HSR). The winner of the overall ranking was the group Login-Crew from login Berufsbildung AG in Zurich.

More than 150 students from secondary schools, grammar schools and vocational schools took the robots they had built and competed against each other in a total of six disciplines in the 16th RobOlympics, according to a HSR press release.

In addition to sumo wrestling, line sequences, ping pong, RoboBoll and a freelance competition, there was also island hopping, which involved moving the robots from one island to an exact position on another island. The 40 groups had only a few hours to develop an appropriate solution for their robots.

The group Login-Crew from login Berufsbildung AG in Zurich won the overall ranking for a second time. Their robots also won in the two individual disciplines RoboBall and Move-it-over.

Over the course of the year, the HSR offers courses and seminars in robotics programming for school groups and classes. With these preparatory classes as well as the RobOlympics, the university of applied sciences is pursuing its goal of “inspiring young people with an enthusiasm for technology in a playful way and thus sustainably promoting the next generation of engineers”.
